Launching our first Tenant Panel
February 28, 2020
Today, Golden Lane Housing tenants from across the country are taking part in our first Tenant Panel being held at our head office in Manchester.
Getting tenants involved has always been important to us, they have helped us to shape the supported housing landlord we are today.
We wanted to take tenant engagement one step further, and empower our tenants by giving them a direct voice to our board of trustees. The Tenant Panels will meet on a regular basis to discuss a range of topics and report their findings, outcomes and recommendations to the board of trustees.
Initially, we are setting up two Tenant Panels, one in the North and one in the South of England.
Gemma Richmond, tenant engagement officer explains, “I have been out and about meeting our tenants and their support staff across the country to promote the Tenant Panels. We wanted to ensure a good demographic and geographic spread. We have had a fantastic response with over 45 applications. Thank you to everyone that expressed an interest. For those not joining the Tenant Panels there will be lots of other opportunities and other ways to get involved.
The first Tenant Panel will be a great opportunity for everyone to visit the office and meet some of our staff. I am also delighted that Brian, a tenant from Northern Ireland will also be joining us by Skype. On 6 March, the second Tenant Panel is taking place in London.
Everyone at Golden Lane Housing is committed and involved in engaging with our tenants. I have been supported to set up the Tenant Panels by our tenant associates. This is an enthusiastic group of tenant engagement champions made up of representatives covering each and every team working across our organisation.
I am really looking forward to our first Tenant Panel meetings and working closely with our tenants, their support staff and colleagues.”
