We’re supporting the National Housing Federation’s Starts at Home Day 2024
August 29, 2024
The National Housing Federation’s Starts at Home Day is a chance to celebrate the positive impact of supported housing on our communities across the country, and to ensure supported housing is recognised as an invaluable part of the housing, health, social care and criminal justice systems.
Without a long-term plan for supported housing, thousands of people could go without the support they need, costing the public purse and leaving people who could live independently with support facing long stays in residential or institutional care, or at risk of homelessness. This year’s Starts at Home Day is a chance to tell the new government how they can deliver for supported housing.
Starts at Home Day celebrates the value of care and support services and the difference that having a safe and secure place to call home can make to people’s lives.
As a provider of specialist supported housing for people with a learning disability and autistic people we know the value it brings in helping people keep their independence, regain their self-confidence and feel secure. It can transform lives.
We’ve been talking to tenants, support workers and parents as well as Golden Lane Housing colleagues about their experiences of what good quality supported housing can do.
