September 12, 2018
We are thrilled to announce new, home-grown director to lead the Golden Lane Housing executive team.
Founded by the Royal Mencap Society in 1998, the independent charity Golden Lane Housing (GLH) houses more than 100 people with a learning disability in supported living arrangements every year, empowering them to live the life they want within their community.
John joined GLH from Sovereign Housing Association in 2000 to assist with developing and managing specialist supported housing services. He became head of development in 2014, supporting the strategic direction of the organisation and building a national development team that has enabled the creation of more than 700 new tenancies throughout England, Wales and more recently in Northern Ireland.
Chief executive of Mencap, Jan Tregelles, who was instrumental in setting up GLH more than 20 years ago, says: “John brings significant experience to his new role, having been part of the team for many years. GLH has achieved so much in that time and has grown in strength.
“His passion and knowledge of all things housing and learning disability are clear to see and I’m confident his leadership will result in providing great quality housing options for people with learning disabilities.”
John says: “I am very excited for the opportunity to lead Golden Lane Housing, delivering quality services and innovative housing solutions for people with a learning disability.
“I am passionate about this work and understand the real difference it makes to individuals and their families to have safe and supported housing. I am keen to further increase choice and opportunity across the country.”
