Spotlight on Tresillian House, Cornwall
November 20, 2023
Tresillian House is a beautiful new scheme in Cornwall which opened its doors to four new tenants earlier this month.
The four tenants were living in a property which was going to be handed back to the landlord, as it had void rooms and the building was no longer viable. Developed between Golden Lane Housing, Mencap and Cornwall commissioners, Tresillian House was found and developed into flats for our four tenants. The property, which was previously being run as an Airbnb, has been funded by Cornwall County Council, and an Occupational Therapist carried out an assessment. Following the assessment, handrails and various grab rails were installed around the property to aid mobility. The tenants were then able to choose their own furniture and other household furniture, as they had not previously had their own due to living in a communal setting.
The property has also meant that the tenants have been able to stay together, as they previously lived in two neighbouring properties, and there was a strong chance they could have been split up and accommodated far away from each other and their families.
Tresillian House boasts stunning sea views from every window, and offers views of the infamous St Michael’s Mount.
One of the new tenants said, “I love my flat”.
Pauline Cann, Senior Development Officer at Golden Lane Housing, said: “It has been a pleasure to be part of this project and to see the lovely smiles on the tenants faces when they moved in. It’s makes you realise the differences we are making to people’s lives and the reason why I love my job.”
