Golden Lane Housing launches new three-year plan co-produced with tenants

June 10, 2022

Golden Lane Housing (GLH) has officially launched its new three-year strategic plan, also known as ‘Our Plan 2022 – 2025.’

Our Plan focuses on providing safe and well repaired homes and making sure our services and the way we communicate are designed for people with a learning disability or autism.

It replaces GLH’s previous five-year plan issued in 2019 and builds on the goals set in this plan following the organisation’s de-merger from Mencap and becoming independent.

There are five goals set out in the new plan:

1.) Tenant satisfaction – improving services and communication, increasing tenant satisfaction

2.) Investing in homes – good quality, safe, environmentally friendly homes

3.) Housing more people – new quality supported housing across more diverse communities

4.) Strong finances – best use of our money and resources

5.) Working together – involving our tenants, great place to work, influencing housing and welfare policy

It also details how GLH is going to achieve these goals and how it will be held accountable.

Our Plan has been published in two versions – a plain English version and an easy read version. Mark Johnson, Chair of tenant committee More Voices, More Choices and GLH tenant, and Stephen Smith, More Voices, More Choices committee member and GLH tenant, worked closely with GLH’s Executive team to co-produce Our Plan, to make sure it reflects what tenants need and want from GLH. They also advised on the use of plain English and accessibility for tenants.

John Verge, Chief Executive of GLH, said: “The goals in Our Plan are the fundamentals of why GLH exists. The most important part of these goals is how we are going to deliver them to make sure that our tenants feel happy and safe in their homes and that our organisation continues to thrive to help more people with a learning disability or autism to live independently.

“It has been brilliant to work alongside Mark and Stephen on Our Plan. Tenant involvement is key to all aspects of GLH and we are constantly learning and evolving from their expertise. We will be providing updates every three months to hold us accountable and to show our progress against meeting our goals.”

Mark Johnson, Chair of More Voices, More Choices, said: “It is great, I really feel as though we are being listened to.”
